Cloud Migration and Integration for Local Government

This case study details the collaboration between the City of Cockburn and 1Spatial to facilitate the migration of the city's enterprise resource planning (ERP) system to the cloud. The document outlines the challenges faced due to the existing integrations between the city's geographic information system (GIS) and TechnologyOne ERP, which were developed over 20 years using SQL and Python. As these integrations were not compatible with the cloud, the GIS team sought a new solution. The city engaged 1Spatial to develop a Proof of Concept (PoC) using Safe Software's FME tool, which allowed for a no-code/low-code integration approach. The case study describes the successful implementation of this solution, which improved data exchange and integration development processes, ultimately enabling the city to meet its cloud migration deadline. Additionally, the document highlights the training provided to the city’s teams, enhancing their capabilities for future integrations and ongoing system improvements.
