This case study details the implementation of the Geospatial Data Validation Hub (GDV Hub) by the City of Armadale, a local government in Western Australia, to enhance asset management efficiencies. The city faced challenges in managing increased asset data volume and required a solution to automate the validation of A-SPEC data, a standard for as-constructed infrastructure assets. The GDV Hub was introduced to automate validation processes, significantly reducing turnaround times from up to 10 hours to less than an hour. This allowed asset data officers without specialist IT skills to perform validations independently, improving operational efficiency. The study outlines the evolution of the city’s asset management systems, including the transition to a new TechnologyOne Ci Anywhere system and the integration of automated workflows using Safe Software’s FME platform. The GDV Hub not only streamlined data validation but also empowered staff, allowing them to focus on managing and improving the city’s asset information effectively.
