This case study outlines the modernization efforts undertaken by the Development Authority of the North Country (DANC) to enhance the documentation of its middle-mile Open Access Telecom Network (OATN). DANC, which manages a fiber network that supports broadband and public services, faced challenges with its existing platform, Enghouse NetDesigner, which was not compatible with current Esri requirements. The need for a telecom-ready system that could support long-term growth was identified. The solution provided by 3-GIS included complete network oversight, full compatibility with Esri, and accelerated documentation processes. The implementation of 3-GIS | Web allowed DANC to establish a centralized system of record, document network components with precision, and import field data for analysis and planning. This modernization aimed to preserve existing records while simplifying operations, ultimately providing a stronger foundation for managing assets and supporting open-access operations.
