This report presents the findings of an intervention study evaluating the effectiveness of the 95 Phonics Lesson Library (95 PLL) for fourth and fifth graders during the 2023-2024 school year. Conducted by LXD Research, the study compares the reading outcomes of students using 95 PLL with those from a comparison group in a low socio-economic status, ethnically diverse school district in Ohio. The methodology involved analyzing Acadience Reading and NWEA MAP Growth assessments to measure literacy achievement. Key findings indicate that students using 95 PLL demonstrated significant growth in reading scores compared to their peers in the comparison group. Specifically, 26% of fourth graders and 19% of fifth graders using 95 PLL were considered On/Above Benchmark by the end of the year, showing substantial improvement. The report also includes observations of instructional strategies and educator feedback, highlighting the program's impact on student confidence and teaching effectiveness. Overall, the findings suggest that 95 PLL is an effective intervention for improving literacy outcomes in grades 4-5.
