This report presents findings from a survey conducted by AARP focusing on Hispanic or Latino registered voters aged 40 and older in New York regarding their attitudes and opinions on caregiving and long-term care. The survey, which included 310 respondents, reveals that a significant majority (83%) prefer to receive long-term care at home with caregiver assistance. Concerns regarding nursing home care are prevalent, with 90% expressing worries about the quality of care and staffing levels. Furthermore, 64% of respondents lack confidence in their ability to afford long-term care, with 75% indicating that such costs would negatively impact their financial future. The report also highlights a strong belief among respondents that the state government should provide more support to family caregivers, including funding for respite care and home- and community-based services. Overall, the findings underscore the need for increased resources and support for caregivers in New York, particularly among the Hispanic community.
