This case study outlines the challenges faced by Garmin's Learning and Development (L&D) team in bridging a skills gap among senior-level leaders to enhance company growth. The L&D team identified a need for a comprehensive overhaul of its leadership development program following a 2022 talent review, which revealed a disparity between emerging talent and executive-level leadership. Garmin's solution involved integrating Abilitie's Management Challenge, a hands-on business simulation, into the revamped Garmin Leadership Academy (GLA). The study details the program's design, which emphasizes experiential learning and the development of five core competencies: Communication, Coaching, Feedback, Delegation, and Strategic Thinking. The results indicate a successful increase in participant engagement and positive feedback from executive leadership, highlighting the program's effectiveness in preparing leaders for real-world challenges. The GLA has achieved high enrollment rates and received strong endorsements from participants, demonstrating its impact on leadership development within the organization.
