Sensor Technology Implementation for Workplace Safety

This case study outlines the implementation of a sensor-based solution by ABM Industries aimed at enhancing workplace safety and transparency for employees returning to the office. The client, who owned the office space, faced challenges in encouraging employees to return, as many were hesitant to use common areas. ABM's solution involved installing displays outside key areas such as conference rooms and restrooms, indicating the last cleaning time. Additionally, occupancy data was utilized to optimize cleaning schedules, ensuring that spaces were serviced before they appeared dirty. The benefits of this approach were validated through occupant surveys, which indicated that employees appreciated the increased visibility of cleaning efforts, felt more comfortable using shared spaces, and observed improved cleanliness throughout the day.
