Integration of Apple Technology in Woodland Academy Trust

This case study outlines the integration of Apple technology into the teaching and learning framework at Woodland Academy Trust (WAT), which was established in 2011 and comprises four primary schools. The objective of this initiative is to enhance students' technological skills and confidence by fully incorporating technology into the curriculum. WAT has implemented a pilot scheme involving iPads, supported by Apple Education, to improve the computing curriculum and empower staff through specialized training. The new digital curriculum aims to provide foundational skills and enhance areas such as coding and online safety. The introduction of iPads has led to increased student engagement, accessibility, and personalized learning experiences. Teachers have reported positive outcomes, including improved creativity and assessment methods. The case study also discusses the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, which accelerated the need for technology access, resulting in the distribution of iPads for remote learning. WAT aspires to achieve digital equality and aims for a 1:1 iPad pupil ratio in the future.
