This case study outlines the collaboration between Target Australia and Accertify, focusing on the implementation of a multi-layered fraud prevention strategy. The partnership began in 2012, with Target Australia utilizing Accertify’s Fraud Management services. As the company experienced significant growth and increased sales during the COVID-19 pandemic, it faced emerging regional fraud threats. To address these challenges, Target Australia sought to upgrade its ordering platform while ensuring a seamless customer experience. The solution involved integrating Accertify's Device technology and migrating to a pre-authorization environment, alongside the use of Accertify's Machine Learning Retail Model. This approach enabled real-time device authentication and continuous analysis of transaction data to detect fraudulent patterns. The implementation resulted in a frictionless customer journey for 99% of Target Australia customers and a 71% reduction in chargebacks since the introduction of the fraud prevention measures. The case study highlights the effectiveness of the partnership in maintaining strong fraud prevention results.
