Improving Efficiency and Compliance of Operational Assets

This technical report details the implementation of Meridian Engineering Information Management by COVRA, the Central Organization for Radioactive Waste in the Netherlands. The report outlines the challenges faced by COVRA in managing operational assets and engineering data under the Dutch Nuclear Energy Act, which mandates safe and efficient management of radioactive waste. COVRA transitioned from an in-house developed application to standard solutions for maintenance and engineering information management. The selected solutions include Meridian for managing engineering information and Ultimo Maintenance Management for handling maintenance orders and work permits. The integration of these systems allows for streamlined access to technical documentation, enhancing document management and asset classification. The report presents the results of this implementation, highlighting improved efficiency in document search and retrieval, compliance with regulatory standards, and enhanced quality of asset information. It concludes with the benefits of central storage and version control in managing engineering documents.
