This case study details the implementation of a compliance IT system at Hamburg Commercial Bank (HCOB), which transitioned from a state-owned to a private bank in 2019. The bank faced challenges due to a heterogeneous IT infrastructure that complicated compliance processes. To address these issues, HCOB adopted a modular ACTICO platform that centralizes compliance data from various sources, streamlining operations and reducing manual effort. The implementation involved extensive planning and collaboration with external consultants and ACTICO experts. The project aimed to create a scalable and standardized IT landscape capable of integrating machine learning applications for future compliance needs. The successful deployment of the ACTICO platform resulted in improved transaction monitoring, customer risk scoring, and compliance reporting. HCOB now benefits from a more efficient compliance process, with a centralized database ready for AI training in pattern recognition, ultimately enhancing the bank's operational capabilities.
