This case study outlines Day-Timer's efforts to reduce operating costs while enhancing efficiency through IT modernization. Faced with high mainframe maintenance costs, Day-Timer, a personal productivity solutions manufacturer, partnered with Adaptigent to incorporate Windows Server and Microsoft’s .NET Framework into its existing infrastructure. The modernization initiative aimed to improve the company's ERP system capabilities, particularly in areas such as accounts receivable and inventory management. The implementation of Adaptigent's Intelligent Transformation Platform and Fujitsu Software NetCOBOL facilitated the migration of 1,600 applications and the completion of 1,300 batch jobs over a 15-month period. As a result, Day-Timer achieved a 93% reduction in costs, eliminated $22,000 in annual paper report expenses, and improved batch processing speed by 10%. The updated system allowed for better integration with third-party applications, positioning Day-Timer for continued growth in delivering productivity tools.
