Barmenia Versicherungen Policy Management System Migration

This case study details the migration of 1.3 million insurance contracts at Barmenia Versicherungen, an independent insurance group based in Germany. The project aimed to replace an outdated policy management system that had been in operation for over 30 years. A new system, in|sure Health Policy, was developed in collaboration with adesso insurance solutions, focusing on high automation and flexible product modeling. The migration utilized MIGSuite for data migration, ensuring quality through automated verifications. The project was executed in incremental phases over 5.5 years, allowing for agile adjustments to new circumstances. Key milestones included the successful integration of travel health insurance and the management of long-term care insurance portfolios. By the end of the project, all new business was managed exclusively in the new system, which features modern interfaces and allows for autonomous changes without extensive programming knowledge. The migration was completed efficiently and on time, exceeding quality expectations.
