This technical report presents the validation of the RightLevelpH indicator, a device designed to measure the pH of gastric aspirate obtained via a nasogastric tube. The objective of the study was to validate the RightLevelpH indicator both in vivo and in vitro. The study involved 20 patients under general anesthesia, where pH measurements were taken simultaneously using the RightLevelpH indicator and an external pH electrode. Results indicated a strong linear relationship between the pH readings from the RightLevelpH indicator and the external pH electrode, with R2 values of 0.99 and 0.92 respectively. The report details the methodology, including the calibration of devices and the statistical analysis performed. The findings suggest that the RightLevelpH indicator provides accurate pH measurements of gastric aspirate, which may be beneficial in clinical settings for monitoring gastric pH and preventing complications such as stress ulcers. The study is significant as it is the first in vivo validation of this device.
