This case study outlines how Highlands Oncology Group has expanded access to oral oncolytics treatment through a consolidated patient care approach. The organization identified the increasing demand for oral oncolytics and aimed to enhance patient care while reducing emergency room visits and therapy discontinuation. By utilizing in-house pharmacies and improving patient workflows, Highlands created a one-stop shop for oncology care, allowing patients to receive education, medication pickup, and support services at their nearest location. The study details the three key elements of their approach: mapping the patient journey to identify care gaps, offering wrap-around services tailored to patient needs, and collaborating with regional healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive care. The results indicate that Highlands successfully served approximately 1,900 patients and secured funding for 800 individuals, demonstrating improved access and adherence to oral oncolytics treatment. The case study serves as a model for enhancing patient care in oncology settings.
