My Reading Academy Impact on Pre-K Students

This research brief presents findings from the Early Learning Coalition of Palm Beach County regarding the deployment of My Reading Academy during the 2023–2024 school year. The study involved 635 students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) across 199 sites, focusing on those who used the program for at least 10 hours. The analysis employed a quasi-experimental design to compare the performance of students using My Reading Academy against matched peers who did not use the program. Results indicated that students using the program achieved an average gain of 136 points on the Star Early Literacy™ assessment, significantly higher than the 73-point gain of their peers. Additionally, students who engaged with the program were more likely to meet monthly growth targets and were 82% likely to be kindergarten-ready by the end of the school year. These findings suggest that My Reading Academy effectively supports literacy development and educational equity for pre-k students with special learning needs.
