This case study presents the Mobile Radiology Unit developed by Azienda Sanitaria Provinciale di Siracusa in Italy, which features a full-scale DX-D 300 X-ray room installed on a truck. The unit aims to provide diagnostic imaging services in both ordinary and extraordinary situations, enhancing patient comfort by minimizing travel for examinations. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the mobile unit was utilized for screening infectious disease patients, demonstrating its adaptability in crisis situations. The design includes a controlled area for patient examinations, a changing room, and a workstation, all aimed at ensuring patient safety and comfort. The DX-D 300 system allows for high-quality imaging with reduced radiation exposure. The case study also highlights the unit's role in screening inmates during a tuberculosis outbreak and assisting the military in assessing incoming individuals for respiratory infections. Overall, the Mobile Radiology Unit has proven to be an essential service for the community in various critical scenarios.
