This application brief presents a study on the false alarm rate of water and soft drink bottles when screened using the Agilent Insight300M and Agilent InsightBLS alarm resolution systems. The objective of the study was to evaluate the effectiveness of these systems in screening various liquid containers, particularly in light of potential regulatory changes that could increase the allowable volume of liquids in cabin baggage. A total of 122 unique glass and plastic bottles were tested, containing different types of liquids, including tap water and soft drinks. The bottles were subjected to over 3,000 scans across four instruments, resulting in a false alarm rate of 0% for all container types. This outcome indicates that the Agilent systems are capable of accurately screening liquids without generating false alarms, thus ensuring a smooth security process for passengers. The findings suggest that these systems are resilient to future regulatory changes regarding liquid volume limits.
