This case study details the initiatives undertaken by GXS Bank, a digital banking consortium based in Singapore, to establish a robust data culture that supports AI-driven decision-making. The objective outlined is to build a strong data culture that fosters the use of Generative AI (GenAI) for strategic decisions. Key actions include creating a single source of truth for data, defining data terminology and ownership, and implementing data governance to enhance trust. The implementation phase involved the integration of Alation into their cloud-native infrastructure, which also includes Snowflake, AWS, and Tableau. Alation serves as the foundation for data governance, allowing users to catalog and tag metadata effectively. The results indicate that nearly all employees can access trusted data, with over 3,000 SQL queries executed and more than 5,000 searches conducted in the past year. The case study concludes with insights into the importance of trusting data for responsible AI governance.
