GLP-1 Receptor Agonist Toxicology Study

This document is a study report detailing an IND-enabling study conducted by Altasciences to evaluate the systemic toxicity and toxicokinetic characteristics of a GLP-1 receptor agonist in dogs. The study involved once-daily oral administration of the test article for 28 days, focusing on the pharmacological effects such as decreased gastric emptying and increased satiety, which are known to lead to reduced food consumption and body weight loss. The study aimed to assess these effects while ensuring the health of the animals. A total of 21 dogs per sex were used, and various clinical observations and measurements were performed, including body weights, food consumption, and toxicological assessments. The results indicated a dose-dependent decrease in food consumption and body weight, with overall body weight loss observed at different dosage levels.
