UAB Huntsville Client Profile and Managed Services Case Study

This case study details the collaboration between UAB Huntsville and Altera Managed Services, focusing on the enhancements made to the hospital's charge capture system. UAB Huntsville, part of the University of Alabama Health System, operates multiple sites and employs approximately 100 providers. The partnership initiated in 2019 aimed to modernize the technological infrastructure and improve operational efficiency through the TouchWorks EHR solution. A significant challenge was the reliance on a paper-based charge capture system, which led to inefficiencies and revenue loss. The Managed Services team worked closely with UAB Huntsville to optimize the service list feature in TouchWorks EHR, resulting in a fully functional system that streamlines patient charge workflows. The new digital process has led to 100% accurate charge capture at the Family Medicine Center and has been implemented in additional clinics.
