This report is a collaboration between Amadeus and Accenture, focusing on the current state of decarbonization in the aviation industry. It aims to provide an overview of how IT solutions can enhance sustainability by improving operational efficiency. The report outlines three primary objectives: to assess the current state of decarbonization, to highlight the relevance of IT solutions in fostering sustainability, and to illustrate the potential carbon reduction impact of selected Amadeus IT solutions. The study evaluates two specific IT solutions, the Amadeus Airport Sequence Manager and the Amadeus Altéa Departure Control – Flight Management, to understand their effectiveness in reducing carbon emissions. The findings indicate that these solutions can significantly decrease fuel consumption and CO2 emissions, with estimates suggesting a reduction of approximately 2.6 million metric tons of CO2 emissions in 2023 alone. The report emphasizes the importance of leveraging technology to support airlines and airports in their decarbonization efforts and outlines the broader context of sustainability challenges within the aviation sector.
