This report presents findings on the adoption of generative AI within organizations, highlighting the transition from experimentation to operational implementation. Despite the rapid adoption of generative AI, many organizations are struggling to realize significant benefits from their investments. The survey, which included 1,006 IT and business professionals across North America and Europe, indicates that while 27% of organizations report organization-wide adoption, project failure rates have surged, with 42% of companies abandoning AI initiatives before reaching production. The report details a decline in positive outcomes across various enterprise objectives, with notable drops in revenue growth, cost management, and risk management. However, some organizations are finding value in less common application areas, such as internal system interactions and complex processes. The report also discusses challenges related to data privacy, security risks, and rising costs, while noting that skills shortages remain a significant barrier to success. Investment in MLOps is increasing as organizations seek to enhance their AI measurement practices.
