Final Evaluation Report on Educator Workforce Investment Grant in Computer Science

This document is a final evaluation report on the Educator Workforce Investment Grant in Computer Science (EWIG: CS) conducted by the American Institutes for Research (AIR). The report outlines the initiative's objective to enhance the capacity of K–12 educators in California to deliver high-quality computer science education through a series of multiday workshops known as Summer of CS. The report summarizes key findings across five areas: educator professional learning participation, educator experiences with professional learning, the development and reach of Computer Science Champions, shifts in teacher practice, and changes in student access to computer science education. It details the participation of 1,394 educators from 2023 to 2025, many of whom were new to teaching computer science. The report also highlights positive changes in educators' confidence and beliefs regarding computer science instruction, as well as the pivotal role of CS Champions in facilitating professional learning.
