This technical report investigates the correlation between Amira Learning's ISIP Assess and Indiana's ILEARN English Language Arts (ELA) summative assessment for grades 3–5. The study employs a cross-sectional analysis linking ISIP Assess benchmarks from six Indiana school districts to ILEARN ELA scores. The findings indicate a strong correlation between ISIP Assess and ILEARN, with correlation coefficients ranging from 0.52 to 0.76. The report details the methodology, including Pearson product-moment correlations and multinomial logistic regression, to determine probabilities for reaching various performance levels on the ILEARN ELA assessment. The results show that ISIP Assess serves as an effective progress monitoring tool and early predictor of ILEARN ELA proficiency. The report also discusses the implications for instructional planning, highlighting how districts can utilize ISIP scores to identify students needing support ahead of the state test. Additionally, the report addresses the sensitivity of linking results to sample size and performance distribution, particularly for grades with smaller samples.
