This technical report presents a linking study between Istation’s Indicators of Progress (ISIP) Reading assessments and the New Jersey Student Learning Assessment—English Language Arts (NJSLA-ELA). The study aims to predict student performance on the NJSLA-ELA based on ISIP Reading scores for students in grades three through eight. Data were collected from 11,927 students across two school districts in New Jersey. The report details the correlation between ISIP scores and NJSLA-ELA scores, indicating strong associations. Using multinomial logistic regression, the study outlines the percentile ranks necessary for students to achieve various performance levels on the NJSLA-ELA. The report also discusses the methodology used for classification accuracy analyses, revealing that between 62% and 81% of students were correctly classified regarding their performance levels. The findings aim to inform educators about the predictability of ISIP assessments and their implications for personalized instruction.
