This technical report presents the findings of a study that examines the proficiency projections of the Istation Reading Formative Assessment in relation to the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) Reading assessment for students in grades three through eight. The study analyzes data from 23,941 students across three Texas school districts during the 2022–2023 academic year. It details the classification accuracy of Istation Reading scores in predicting STAAR performance, utilizing multinomial logistic regression for analysis. The report outlines the required Istation Reading percentile ranks necessary for students to achieve high probabilities of meeting or mastering the STAAR performance levels at both the middle-of-the-year (MOY) and end-of-the-year (EOY) assessments. Additionally, it includes statistical correlations between Istation Reading and STAAR scores, indicating strong relationships and classification accuracy rates of approximately 80%. The findings aim to assist educators in preparing students for the STAAR assessment.
