This case study details the systematic approach taken by Northwest Local School District in Ohio to implement the Amplify CKLA curriculum, resulting in significant improvements in student literacy scores. The district, serving approximately 8,200 students, faced challenges with its previous reading program, which lacked teacher engagement and effective evaluation processes. In response, the district developed a comprehensive three-year pathway for the new curriculum adoption, emphasizing professional development, community engagement, and clear communication. Key components of the implementation included extensive training for teachers, a structured review process for curriculum selection, and ongoing support for educators. The results were evident in the MAP RIT scores, which increased by 8 to 16 points across grades 1 to 5 in the first year. Additionally, the district observed enhanced teacher confidence and student engagement, showcasing the importance of strategic planning and responsive leadership in educational change management.
