Determination of TOC and DOC in Surface Water

This technical report outlines the determination of total organic carbon (TOC) and dissolved organic carbon (DOC) in surface water according to the international standard DIN EN ISO 20236. It describes the significance of surface water quality for various applications, including drinking water supply and industrial processes. The report details the methodologies employed, particularly the NPOC plus method, which is effective for samples with high total inorganic carbon (TIC) content. It emphasizes the importance of filtering samples to accurately measure DOC and DNb, and discusses the use of polyethersulfone membranes to minimize blank values that can affect results.
