This research paper examines the employment impacts of e-commerce across the ASEAN region, focusing on sectoral linkages and implications for job creation. The study employs input-output analysis to quantify the effects of e-commerce, starting with Singapore as a case study and extending the analysis to other ASEAN countries. It identifies wholesale and retail trade, along with information and communication technology (ICT), as the primary sectors driving job creation. The findings highlight the varying employment prospects across six ASEAN nations, emphasizing the need for workforce development in digital skills to adapt to the evolving job landscape influenced by e-commerce. The paper also discusses the complexities of measuring job creation due to the interconnected nature of e-commerce and traditional industries, suggesting that the net effects on the labor market are multifaceted. The research aims to inform policy planning and skills development initiatives to maximize the benefits of e-commerce while addressing potential disruptions in traditional employment.
