This research article investigates the relationship between MBTI personality type diversity and team performance within the context of a first-year design course at Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD). The study reveals a statistically significant, albeit weak, correlation between greater MBTI diversity and higher final project grades. It notes that teams with more introverted and intuitive members generally perform better, aligning with existing literature that associates these traits with effective decision-making and creative problem-solving. Specific MBTI types, such as INTJ and ISTP, are linked to higher performance, while teams with ISFP members tend to underperform. The article emphasizes the importance of understanding personality types in enhancing teamwork and communication, which are critical for project success. It also highlights the need for further research to establish causation and explore the underlying mechanisms influencing these dynamics in educational settings.
