This case study details the migration of the College of the Sequoias' (COS) Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system to the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Cloud, facilitated by Apogee. Established in 1926, COS serves over 13,000 students and previously relied on the Ellucian® Banner ERP system for essential workflows. The on-premises data center was reaching its end of life, prompting the decision to migrate to the cloud to enhance performance, security, and disaster recovery capabilities. Apogee collaborated with AWS Professional Services to design a compliant multi-account AWS environment, implementing AWS Control Tower and Identity and Access Management (IAM) for security. The migration utilized Amazon Elastic Container Service (ECS) to improve scalability and reliability. Post-migration, COS's IT team received training for system maintenance, allowing them to focus on new tasks. The successful migration has empowered COS to innovate further by migrating additional applications to AWS, enhancing operational efficiency and flexibility.
