This case study details the implementation of Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) by PantherRx Rare Pharmacy, a rapidly growing healthcare organization. The document outlines the challenges faced by PantherRx due to its reliance on legacy VPN solutions, which resulted in operational friction and reliability issues. With a predominantly remote workforce, the organization required a secure access solution that could replace its unreliable VPNs and support rapid growth. The selected solution, AppGate ZTNA, modernized secure access through a direct-routed, identity-centric architecture. The implementation allowed for application-level connectivity based on verified identity and device trust, significantly reducing security risks. Key capabilities of AppGate ZTNA include always-on secure connectivity, certificate-based authentication, and device posture validation. The case study highlights the successful transition from approximately 500 to over 1,200 users, showcasing the improved performance and user experience resulting from the deployment. PantherRx's experience illustrates the effectiveness of ZTNA in enhancing security and operational efficiency.
