This document is a case study detailing the implementation of a new claims management system for the Nominal Defendant, a statutory body under the Motor Accident Insurance Act 1994. The objective was to replace an outdated Claims Management System (CMS) that relied on Microsoft Access and SQL 2000, which was no longer supported by its vendor. The Insurance Commission sought a solution that would allow for process automation and efficient data management to improve the approval of insurance claims. After evaluating various options, the Commission selected Appian’s BPM-based application platform to develop a modern claims management solution named Connect. This centralized platform enables end-to-end claims management and provides transparency for both internal operations and external customers. The implementation aims to reduce the average life of claims, lower claims costs, and decrease operating expenses, with ongoing developments planned for continuous improvement.
