This case study details the collaboration between Hinton Transportation Investments (HTI) and Applied Innovation to address inefficiencies in HTI's accounts payable department. HTI faced challenges with manual, paper-based processing of thousands of inventory payables, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic. To streamline their processes and enable remote work, HTI implemented Document Workflow Solutions utilizing OnBase software by Hyland. This transition to a paperless accounts payable and purchase order system facilitated electronic document routing and storage, significantly reducing reliance on paper and printing. Additionally, Applied Innovation provided copiers and scanners to enhance document management efficiency. The implementation resulted in quick access to documents, improved responsiveness, cost savings from reduced printing, decreased labor time on manual tasks, and empowered staff to undertake additional projects, ensuring safe and productive remote work while maintaining business continuity.
