This case study outlines the challenges faced by a Defense customer in managing mission-critical information and intelligence related to detainees at DoD-operated facilities. The customer required specific application development and maintenance support to enhance their database functionality and prevent data loss. The solution involved enhancing software functionality, hardening security architecture, and increasing efficiency in information querying and case management. AI's software engineers collaborated with USSOUTHCOM teams to overhaul the application architecture and database structure, which included modifying and developing new database code. Additionally, they restored inoperative databases and implemented an Oracle-based enterprise logging database. A custom training manual was created for the user base, and the training curriculum was adjusted based on feedback. The resulting benefits included a future-proofed design, successful virtualization of various systems, reduced infrastructure costs, and improved workforce flexibility.
