This technical report examines the internal consistency of the Motivating By Appreciation (MBA) Inventory, which is an online assessment tool designed to identify employees' preferred methods of receiving appreciation from colleagues. The study analyzes data from over 114,000 employees, utilizing Cronbach's coefficient alpha τ, a nonparametric measure of internal consistency, due to the categorical nature of the data. The findings indicate that the MBA Inventory demonstrates acceptable internal consistency, with a coefficient alpha τ of 0.32, suggesting that the assessment items are more accurate in identifying an individual's preferred appreciation language than random responses. The report also discusses the limitations of the study, noting that the majority of participants are English-speaking and located in the USA, which may affect the generalizability of the results to other cultures. This research contributes to the understanding of the MBA Inventory's psychometric properties, specifically its reliability in assessing appreciation preferences among employees.
