This technical report presents an analysis of long-COVID symptoms and their potential drivers based on real-world data. The study, conducted by Arcadia in collaboration with the COVID Patient Recovery Alliance, aims to identify factors that may influence the likelihood of experiencing long-COVID symptoms following a COVID-19 infection. Key findings indicate that vaccination against COVID-19 significantly reduces the risk of long-COVID symptoms. The report outlines the methodology used in the analysis, which includes establishing patient baselines, selecting a comprehensive data set, and defining cohorts based on clinical diagnoses. The analysis involved over 1.3 million COVID-19 positive patients, utilizing a large, HIPAA-compliant data asset to explore the prevalence of chronic conditions and their relationship to long-COVID symptoms. The report emphasizes the complexity of long-COVID, detailing various symptoms and the importance of data science in understanding these interactions. This study serves as a foundation for further research into long-COVID and its implications for healthcare.
