This case study details the design and installation of acoustical solutions in the new headquarters of REGENXBIO, a biotechnology company located in Rockville, MD. The objective was to create a modern facility that effectively integrates laboratory and office spaces while ensuring excellent acoustical performance. The design team, led by Lindsay Casey from EwingCole, implemented a series of AcoustiBuilt® Seamless Acoustical Ceilings to achieve a dynamic visual and effective sound absorption. These ceilings provide the aesthetic of drywall while performing as acoustical ceilings, achieving a Noise Reduction Coefficient (NRC) of up to 0.80. The installation included 20 clouds of varying sizes and shapes, strategically placed to enhance the lobby and lounge areas. The installation process was reported to be straightforward, with no issues encountered. The design not only met the acoustical needs but also contributed to the overall visual appeal of the facility, creating a welcoming environment for visitors.
