This case study details the architectural design process for the expanded and renovated Tachi Palace Casino Resort located in Lemoore, CA. The architects from the Cuningham Group aimed to reflect the rich history of the Tachi-Yokut Tribe and the natural landscape of Southern California in their design. The project involved creating high-energy open gaming spaces while enhancing the guest experience through thoughtful design elements. A significant focus was placed on using materials that echoed the region's geography, including WoodWorks® ACGI Grille solid wood panels and Calla® black ceiling panels. The design incorporated a dominant linear white oak slatted ceiling to enrich the interior ambiance and facilitate wayfinding. The project faced challenges related to high elevations and complex layouts, which required precise coordination among various trades. The successful execution of the design was met with satisfaction from both casino management and tribal leaders, highlighting the importance of collaboration and planning throughout the project.
