Dante Audio Networking Solution for Music Education

This case study details the implementation of a Dante audio networking solution by Advanced Systems Group (ASG) at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music (SFCM) to facilitate music performance during COVID-19 social distancing measures. Due to restrictions, traditional group performances were not feasible, prompting the need for a technology that would allow students and instructors to collaborate in real time across multiple rooms. The solution involved the installation of 25 Focusrite RedNet X2P audio interfaces, which connect through the existing Ethernet infrastructure of SFCM. This setup enables high-quality audio transmission with minimal latency, allowing performers to adjust their audio levels and communicate effectively with instructors. The system has proven effective, with no complaints about latency reported, and has enabled the school to produce and stream concerts despite the absence of live audiences. The case study illustrates the adaptability of educational institutions in leveraging technology to overcome challenges posed by the pandemic.
