Pac-12 Networks Production Studio Design and Integration

This case study details the design and integration of the new Pac-12 Networks production studio completed by Advanced Systems Group (ASG). The project was initiated to meet tight deadlines, including a one-year timeframe to construct a SMPTE ST-2110 compliant facility that spans 42,000 square feet and is capable of producing over 850 live events annually. The studio includes multiple production and audio control rooms, emphasizing the need for an efficient IP-based infrastructure. The Pac-12 Networks, which operates as a sports-oriented television network owned by twelve universities, selected ASG as their partner for this project. The study outlines the necessity for more control rooms compared to studios, reflecting the network's hub-and-spoke broadcast model. Challenges included coordinating various vendors and ensuring interoperability of equipment, especially given the ongoing supply chain issues exacerbated by the pandemic. The cooperative efforts between ASG and Pac-12 Networks led to the successful completion of the facility, which is positioned as the second-largest SMPTE ST 2110 facility on the West Coast.
