This case study details the implementation of an assisted history matching solution using Aspen Tempest ENABLE by a large North American energy company to enhance reservoir management. The objective was to improve understanding of the reservoir to support decisions related to production optimization, forecasting, and well placement. The process involved building and calibrating a reservoir model that integrated multidisciplinary data. The initial manual history matching was time-consuming and ineffective due to high uncertainties. The adoption of Aspen Tempest ENABLE allowed the team to efficiently analyze thousands of scenarios, significantly reducing the time required for history matching. The findings revealed critical insights into reservoir uncertainties, including the identification of natural fractures, which improved the accuracy of the model. Ultimately, the project led to increased productivity and cost savings by avoiding unnecessary data acquisition. The company plans to expand the use of Aspen Tempest ENABLE to other fields, demonstrating its value in optimizing production across various assets.
