Service Optimization of Prostate Cancer Therapy Pathway

This document is a report detailing a collaborative working project between Astellas Pharma Ltd and Birmingham QE Hospital, focusing on the service optimization of the Prostate Cancer Oral Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy (SACT) pathway. The objective is to conduct a service review of the Prostate Cancer Oral SACT Novel Hormone Therapy pathway in partnership with Astellas Pharma Ltd, Bionical Solutions Ltd, and Birmingham QE Hospital. The report outlines the significant burden that new prostate cancer cases place on NHS capacity, with 48,500 patients diagnosed annually. The optimization program aims to identify and address inefficiencies, delays, and bottlenecks within the service, ultimately improving patient well-being and service delivery. The anticipated benefits include reduced waiting times, increased patient satisfaction, and enhanced service capacity, which will contribute to meeting NHS Cancer Waiting targets and improving overall Trust performance. The collaboration seeks to pool expertise to drive innovation and enhance the quality of care provided to patients.
