Database Performance Improvement Case Study

This case study details the experience of the Metro Housing Authority, which operates a central data system accessed by over 300 users simultaneously. Due to high user demand for both production and reporting, the IT team faced significant performance issues. To address these challenges, IT Manager Donald Butler decided to split the existing database into two separate systems: one dedicated to applications and another for reporting. The reporting database was designed to mirror a subset of tables from the applications database. The Metro Housing Authority implemented Astera, a data integration platform, to facilitate this transition.
