This research article examines the relationship between the ATI TEAS Version 7 preparedness levels and early academic performance in a Practical Nursing (PN) program, specifically through the ATI PN Content Mastery Series (CMS) Fundamentals assessments. The study analyzes first-attempt scores from 3,470 students across 355 nursing programs, focusing on how the ATI TEAS Version 7 scores correlate with the PN CMS Fundamentals scores. It outlines the methodology used to match these scores and discusses the significance of the findings. The results indicate a positive correlation between higher ATI TEAS preparedness levels and proficiency levels achieved on the PN CMS Fundamentals assessment. The article emphasizes that while the ATI TEAS Version 7 should not be the sole criterion for admissions, it can serve as a valuable indicator of a student's potential for success in nursing programs when used alongside other admissions criteria. Recommendations for nursing programs regarding the use of preparedness levels in admissions decisions are also provided.
