Summary
This case study details the implementation of Remote PC Arrays in Saito City Hall to optimize workspace and reduce costs associated with managing physical PCs. Due to space constraints in the new city hall, which opened in 2021, the city sought to virtualize the PCs used for Individual Number-related tasks. The existing setup required employees to use multiple laptops, leading to inefficiencies and increased costs. The city decided to adopt a proposal featuring Remote PC Arrays, which allowed for the consolidation of 140 PCs into seven arrays, significantly reducing hardware and licensing costs compared to traditional Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI). The implementation resulted in improved desk space, enhanced work efficiency, and maintained security protocols. The system was operational six months after the decision, demonstrating effective management of resources while addressing the needs of administrative users across various departments. The case study highlights the successful integration of technology in local government operations.
