This case study details the modernization efforts at OKG's nuclear power plant in Sweden, focusing on the implementation of AVEVA's Everything3D (E3D) and other technologies to enhance operational efficiency and safety. The primary goal was to reduce reactor outage time, which had previously cost the company significant revenue. The study outlines the challenges faced, including a costly day-long outage and the necessity for high safety standards. It describes the innovative prefabrication methods employed for electrical cabling and connectors, which significantly cut down the outage duration from 150 days to 80 days, and further aimed for a reduction to 58 days in the latest project. The integration of laser scanning technology with 3D modeling allowed for precise design work, improving installation efficiency. The use of tablet computers for accessing photorealistic installation images transformed the workflow, demonstrating a shift towards more efficient engineering practices in the nuclear sector.
