This case study details the implementation of a 3D visualization laboratory at Rice University, aimed at enhancing science and engineering research. The project, known as the Data Analysis and Visualization Cyber-Infrastructure (DAVinCI), was funded by the National Science Foundation and involved the installation of a 200-inch stereoscopic visualization wall in the Chevron Visualization laboratory. The wall, developed by AVI-SPL, features a high-resolution display with thirty-three million pixels, allowing researchers to visualize complex data sets across various fields, including astrophysics and engineering. The case study outlines how the visualization wall supports collaboration among students and professionals, enabling them to conduct advanced research with enhanced data interaction. Additionally, it highlights the long-term partnership between Rice University and AVI-SPL, focusing on evolving solutions that meet the needs of multidisciplinary research. The technology is designed to be user-friendly, ensuring that researchers can engage with their data seamlessly.
