CAL FIRE ProjectDox Integration Case Study

This case study details the collaboration between CAL FIRE, GOVmotus, and the Institute for Building Technology and Safety (IBTS) to integrate electronic permitting and plan review workflows using the ProjectDox software platform. Following the deployment of GOVmotus//FIRE in 2018, CAL FIRE sought to enhance their electronic plan review process, which handles approximately 2,600 applications annually. The integration aimed to streamline workflows and improve efficiency for both internal staff and external users. The ProjectDox platform was chosen for its role-based capabilities, allowing seamless transitions between GOVmotus//FIRE and ProjectDox, including a single sign-on feature. The case study outlines the functionalities developed, such as automated notifications, document control management, and the ability to track time spent on various tasks, which supports CAL FIRE's transparency and efficiency goals. The new system was launched in April 2020, achieving 99.9% availability and supporting thousands of projects across California.
